Quanto segue è tratto direttamente dal sito ufficiale di John McCain,lo riporto tale e quale,anche perchè non è scritto in un inglese particolarmente difficile,in modo che chi vuole possa leggere l’esatta posizione del candidato repubblicano su uno dei temi più sensibili per l’opinione pubblica non solo americana. John McCian believes Roe vs. Wade (la sentenza del 1973 con cui la Corte Suprema Federale rese di fatto legale l’aborto negli USA,nda) is a flawed decision that must be overtuned and a s President He will nominate judges who understand that Courts shouldn’t be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe vs. Wade,returning the abortion question to the individual states. the difficult issue of abortion shouldn’t be decided by judicial fiat. However,then reversal of Roe vs. Wade represents only one step in the long path toward ending abortion. Once the question is returned to the states,the fight for life will be one of courage and compassion-the courage of a pregnant mother to bring her child into the world and the compassion of civil society to meet her needs and those of her newborn baby. The pro-life movement has done tremendous work in building and reinforcing the infrastructure of civil society by strenghtening faith-based,community and neighborhood organizations that provide critical services to pregnant mothers in need. This work must continue and government must find new ways to empower and strenghten rhese armies of compassion. these important groups can help build the consensus necessary to end abortion at the state level. As John McCain has publicly noted: “At its core,abortion is a human tragedy. to effect meaningful change,we must engage the debate at a human level”. Non è che riusciresti a tirar fuori una traduzioncina per chi, come me, ha fatto a pugni con l’inglese
gli è che ho fatto a pugni con l’inglese anch’io,cmq ci proverò…..
cercando di sintetizzare e sperando di non aver preso troppi fischi per fiaschi,McCain vuole che alla Corte Suprema vadano giudici che non pretendano di legiferare al posto del Congresso (va ricordato che il diritto USA è di tradizione anglosassone e che le sentenze della Corte Suprema di fatto hanno valore legale)e che come Presidente s’impegnerà perchè almeno le nomine di sua competenza siano orientate su uomini e donne che rispondano a ciò e che occorre superare (ma in legal english overtuned può stare anche per cassare) la Roe vs. Wade e restituire ai singoli Stati e soprattutto agli individui la decisione su un tema tanto sensibile. In seconda battuta,McCain ritiene di dover sostenere la battaglia dei movimenti per la vita americani,per i quali si spertica in elogi, e che bisogna risvegliare il dibattito “al livello umano” (questo non saprei come interpretarlo,nda)
